How sensitivity conversion works
Every game turns your view by a fixed number of degrees for each "count" your mouse reports, multiplied by your in-game sensitivity. That base angle is called the yaw. Games built on different engines use different yaw values, which is why the same number feels completely different from game to game.
To keep the same feel, you keep the same degrees turned per inch of mouse movement. That's the same as keeping the same cm/360: how far you move to spin all the way around.
The formula
cm/360 = 360 ÷ (DPI × sens × yaw) × 2.54
eDPI = DPI × sens
Yaw values used
| Game | Yaw (degrees per count) | From CS2, multiply by |
|---|---|---|
| CS2, CS:GO, Apex Legends, TF2 and other Source games | 0.022 | 1 |
| Valorant | 0.07 | 0.3143 (÷ 3.18) |
| Overwatch 2 | 0.0066 | 3.333 |
| Call of Duty (Modern Warfare, Warzone, Black Ops 6) | 0.0066 | 3.333 |
Example: CS2 to Valorant
| Step | Result |
|---|---|
| CS2 sensitivity 2.0 at 800 DPI | eDPI 1,600 |
| cm/360: 360 ÷ (800 × 2 × 0.022) × 2.54 | 26.0 cm |
| Valorant: 2.0 × 0.022 ÷ 0.07 | 0.629 |
Tips when switching games
- Turn off mouse acceleration in Windows (Enhance pointer precision) and in game, or no conversion will feel right.
- Field of view matters. The same cm/360 can feel different at a different FOV because targets move across the screen at a different speed. Give it a few sessions.
- Check raw input. Make sure raw input is on in games that offer it, so Windows settings don't interfere.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert CS2 sensitivity to Valorant?
Divide your CS2 sensitivity by about 3.18 (exactly 0.07 ÷ 0.022). A CS2 sensitivity of 2.0 at 800 DPI becomes 0.629 in Valorant at 800 DPI. The other way, multiply your Valorant sensitivity by 3.18.
Is Apex sensitivity the same as CS2?
Yes. Apex Legends uses the same Source-engine scale as CS2 (0.022 degrees per count), so the numbers carry over 1:1 at the same DPI, as long as you use the default hip-fire settings.
What is cm/360?
cm/360 is how far you move your mouse, in centimeters, to turn a full circle in game. It's the one number that compares fairly across every game and DPI. Many pro players sit between about 25 and 50 cm/360; lower numbers mean faster aim.
What is eDPI?
Effective DPI is DPI multiplied by in-game sensitivity. It's handy for comparing settings within one game: 800 DPI at 2.0 and 1600 DPI at 1.0 are both 1,600 eDPI in CS2 and feel identical. It isn't comparable across games with different scales; use cm/360 for that.
Does this convert scoped or ADS sensitivity?
No. This matches hip-fire (unscoped) sensitivity. Scopes and aim-down-sights use separate multipliers in each game, and Call of Duty also changes ADS feel with its monitor distance coefficient setting.
Should I change DPI or in-game sensitivity?
Either works, since cm/360 is what you feel. Many players use 800 or 1600 DPI and adjust in-game sensitivity. Very low in-game values at high DPI can make menus feel fast, and very high in-game values at low DPI can skip pixels in some games.
